I worked in HK for 13 months back in 1999/2000. We got a trip back to Oz every 3 months, but only for an extended weekend (3 or 4 days at most). So I went for 3 months at a stretch without driving ANY car, let alone my pride and joy at the time (a 1992 EB2 Ghia V8).

Then the week before one trip home, my mate (who was using the car while I was away), rings me to tell me he crashed it. Of course I thought he was pulling my leg - turns out he was serious. So that trip back, I didn't get to drive it at all.

The Monday before my next trip back (about 6 weeks later, and after the car was repaired), the same mate rings me again to say he's stacked it again - this time, I just said, mate if you're joking, stop now because it's not funny. But, again, he was serious. This time I asked him to get a quote but not get it fixed, but the damage was enough that he had to take it to the panel beaters and leave it there. So another trip home and no car!

And yes, we are still mates, but I haven't let him drive my cars since - in fact my insurance actually listed him as an excluded driver on my policy for 12 months after those little episodes.!!

So, to the OP - while I sympathise - suck it up; there's always someone in a worse position. LOL.

yeah try getting your car back after 6 weeks, and spending 2k on rental cars because you need one for work. only to have to fight to get it fixed properly not to mention the drama of lawyers and threats in the span of 5 months, only to give up and never get to enjoy it ever again.

so as JC said suck it up theres always someone worse of than you LOL :P
