Default A/C fan problem?

The other day i noticed that when i turned my A/C on there was a sound coming from the left side of the car (on the inside) i assume somewhere near the vents. After a little while I found that it was some sort of fan as when i turned the A/C speed up the ticking got faster and when i turned it off i could hear it slowing down. I'm not sure if something is stuck in there and hence theres a clicking or if its broken etc. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you go about fixing it? it's just one of those little things that's enough to give you the irrits. just thought i'd ask before i opened it up to investigate. cheers all

Could be a leave or something in the fan. Not sure how you'd go getting it out, everytime i've had one i just crank the fan speed right up and wait for it to blow out.

Follow the steps below , Ithink you will find a leaf in the fan.

Open the glove box and slide your hands down the sides to pop the side clip ins so it lowers further down. Put your air to recirc. and you should see the little door open up and the fan within. Shine a torch in there and you will find the edge of a leaf sticking up get the old tweesers and fish the sucker out.

To remove stuff from the Air con fan you first remove the glove box (Open it then pressing in each side it should pop out), then you will see a white flap, this pushes up & is you controlling flap for inside/outside air. If you cant see how it is done, turn the car on, and switch from fresh air to recirculate & watch it go up. Remember to turn the car off before putting your hand in the fan though. So lift flap & this exposs the fan, and you can get out whatever it may be thats in there. I have had the odd leaf, which turning onto high can sometimes bust it up and get it out, but sometimes it sucks up fuel receipts off the floor and into there, and i have to remove them.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Col.

had a looksie and there was a few little leaves. took them out but it still made the sound. so either there's a leaf stuck in a place i can't reach without taking it out, or it's perhaps a bearing problem. it doesn't seem likely that it would happen all of a sudden though which makes me think i just can't see whatever is obstructing the way, a broken torch didn't help either :P thanks for the quick replies too. cheers, pat

also D1XR2C, a plastic bag?? that's crazy! did you try the AC Max when the car was running? i just tried it out to see if i had the same deal and for a while it worked without the car running and then it would stop. when the car was running it started to do it again. i assume its power related, if not we might have the same problem haha

It was just the tab bit of the plastic bag I think, where it is hung by at the supermarket. Yep car was on during tests.

No wonder I smelt a bit of burnt plastic everynow and then
