gt owners club of some sort hosted by alan moffat. there'll be a show and shine on saturday morning and .other events more info at www.milduracity.com.au From the local paper GT muscle cars heaven for rev heads By Liz O’ Brien NOISE, power, speed, wheels – $24 million worth of cars will shine at Mildura’s Falcon GT Charity Run later this month. Sunraysia’s rev heads can feast their eyes on almost 100 muscle cars ranging from 1960s and 1970s Falcon XRGTs to XBGTs from April 25 to 27. Event organisers Frank Romeo and Vince Pileggi encouraged Sunraysia car buffs to unveil their pride and joy and show off their muscle cars to fellow car lovers. Almost 400 people will cruise into town from Sydney, Griffith, Echuca, Swan Hill, Melbourne, Charlton, Adelaide and the Gold Coast for the charity bash. “We expect $24 million worth of cars to show up,” Mr Romeo said. “As soon as we told people everybody involved that it was being held in Mildura they booked it. “Everybody loves a GT. They’re powerful, noisy and they’re a head-turner. It’s a passion.” Mr Romeo said money would go to Mildura’s Specialist School which caters and cares for intellectually disabled students. “The money will be put towards an independent living skills house. “The house will give children an opportunity to learn the skills of everyday living in an adult society.” The three-day car extravaganza begins on Friday, April 25, when GT owners and their families share a meal at the Sunraysia Resort. Cars in mint condition will line Langtree Avenue for Saturday’s “show and shine”. cheers steweyau |
