I was wondering what the comparison of registered Ford and Holden cars were on the road and compiled this from ABS:
Registered vehicles: 1999 Holden 1,911,828 Ford 2,070,480 2001 Holden 1,905,284 (891,757 older than 10 years) Ford 2,011,740 (992,676 older than 10 years) 2002 Holden1,957,570 (802,364 older than 10 years) Ford 1,989,199 (897,779 older than 10 years) 2003 Holden 2,004,850 Ford 1,961,195 2004 Holden 2,033,568 Ford 1,933,822 2005 Holden 2 ,053,044 Ford 1,907,876 2006 Holden 2,067,824 Ford 1,877,704 2007 Holden 2,071,363 Ford 1,837,094 Be interesting to know what % are Commodore and Falcon, the rural/urban distribution and age groups. My own bias is that Falcon is not as attractive to under 25s as Commodore, that a high majority of rural brand is Falcon and a higher proportion of Holdens are Commodores. Any thoughts or additional data? |

Well we already know that Commodore and Falcon are the highest selling models for both manufacturers so its safe to assume they would make up a large part of those vehicles.
Quite distressing to see the number of Fords fall each year.

Ever been to this area of the forum?
Sales Statistics (AU) Russellw does a great job keeping it all updated, even if the graphs are rather depressing at times.

I had a squiz, but they appear to be sales figures, while I was interested in current registrations.
irlewy86 the attrition rate for Ford is about 5% while for Holden it's about -5%, so yes it's a bit disconcerting for Ford and the local industry, although Toyota do build locally too. What it does indicate though is there are a lot of potentially repeat buyers for both camps and maybe they should start marketing to them. Last edited by Wally; 24-04-2008 at 04:12 PM. |
