Default whats the go (p-plate laws)

I've had my p's for nearly a year, i got them July 16 2007 (15 days after new law came in)

i hope someone here can clear up with me something that has been bugging me bad

for the new laws is it the first 12 months of your p's that v8's, turbo's and s/c are banned, after which it goes back too 125kw/tonne? or is it for the life of your p plates?

any help would be great
Daniel

Nope, you're not allowed to drive them AT ALL on a probationary licence.

thanks for the link Big Trev

One question i have ( not for me but in a way it is ) we are a 1 car family and my wife is yet to get her license i am looking at doing more work to our el in the near future

1 if all the work is completed before she obtains her license can or do we have grounds for the hardship clause

2 if we don't fall into the grounds of the hardship what will happen if she gets caught driving our only car

I would try for the hardship clause, I am assuming that the EL is a 6, so there shouldn't be a problem.

might as well jump in, our family own a V8, the only other car is a 4cyl ute that is driven by a tradie (my old man) so its always out, we've owned the V8 since 03, am i able to get in and drive the V8 as its our only usable car during the week? or am i screwed into having to buy ANOTHER car just so i can drive?

i heard that as long as your family owned the vehicle by a certain date you were able to apply for an exemption??

You cant drive a 165kw E series V8 but you can drive a 180kw B series 6?

The laws are focked!

agreed mate, i most likely won't be allowed to drive our 160kw 2 tonne V8 4wd, but can go get a 190kw XT..and i can guarantee that the XT will fly compared to the Jeep...obviously didn't think the laws through very well..
