Default ONE of the famous Twelve Apostles collapsed

One the 12 Apostles fell on the weekend:
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117...-28102,00.html

News.com.au photo:

I was only there a couple of weeks ago via the Great Ocean road. Sad to see it go, it doesn't quite look the same now.

Yes would have been intreging to see her come down, but it was bound to happen sooner or later, just like it will with the other's.

Wow what a beautiful coastline in that second picture. There certainly is some magnificent scenery in Australia.

Apparently only 8 remain.

When London Bridge in Port Campbell colapsed in the early 90's my brother walked over that section only 4 days before it happen.

Nice shot out the window of the REX Chris. Sad to see a fallen apostle (though will happen to them all eventually)
I took the following down there in Feb/Mar when I was down for the FPV weekend (one of them taken from almost exact same angle as the one with the destroyed apostle)

On the late news tonight they reported that it 'supposedly collapsed' due to a helicopter that had been in the area, shooting a movie.

I suppose the council needs to blame someone other than 'nature'

My mum was there the day before it collapsed and took a brilliant shot of it while it was still up. She also flew out of L.A. the day before the quakes hit back in the 90's.

We now issue warnings before she travels anywhere! :P

I heard it's just construction work by the Bracks government. They couldn't figure out how to toll people for it so they're removing it.

Thats incorrect, there were only 9 that were visible from the look out (now 8), there are really about 13 or 14 of them in the same area, but not all are visble from viewing areas. They were originally just called the Apostles, but somehow they ended up being the 12 Apostles even though it could have been refered to as any number of them as there are over 30 of them along the coast.

Actually the real reason it fell was I lean on it!

When we were there a few weeks back a friend of mine took a goofy photo of me leaning my elbow on the apostle that fell. They rechecked the photos that were taken on the day after they heard the news and it was emailed to me today.

And before you ask no chance in hell I'm posting it on the internet

BTW wulos cool photos also. It's a bit of pot luck to get decent lighting at this place as it takes the better part of a day to get there from Melbourne especially if you take lots of stops.

I had left the tripod in the car thinking I wouldn't need it, now I wish I brought it along to have taken some longer exposures. It was so cold that day I could only bare standing at the lookout for 10-15 minutes.

I quoted an article in the Geelong Advertiser, they researched it pretty thouroughly and they also had an aerial photo of the area with them all marked out.

Have you heard the latest theory, they think an alien tourist might have pushed it over. :hihi:

Maybe we should just wait for the RVV (Revised Victorian Version) of the Holy Bible.

Not only will it contain only 8 apostles (thus making it somewhat shorter) but it could also contain such other revisions as ....

1. The Bracksy walking on water miracle.
2. Eddie Everywhere as John The Baptist anointing everyone as he goes about.
3. Peter Batchelor as the worker of the Speed Scamera miracle (or how one man managed to convince a believing public that the Monash cameras were fully functional).
4. A revised set of Commandments with Thou Shall Not Speed Even Slightly inserted.
5. Sydney and Brisbane as replacements for both Sodom and Gomorrah respectively.
6. Removal of Acts 1:14 where they were all in one Accord (it's a Honda and not made here).

Cheers
Russ
