Default AU2 XR8 Bra

Just wondering if anyone has bought one, and if they create rubbing scratches? Where to buy one, costs and quality of the item... i would buy a used bra if in good condition, so if anyone has got one they want to part with, PM me.... Or where to buy one new? Do they have to be tailored made or just buy over the counter? AU2 and AU3 XR6,XR8 I would think would be the same..
Haven`t noticed anyone in the Forum ever talking about them!
Cheers

They reckon the one to buy is the original car bra however having said that I once saw a car with a cover where moisture got between the it and the car (like it would if it rained) and in the heat the high humidity that resulted after a year or so of this repeated event he started getting really fine paint blisters emerging but only where the cover was. Panel beater said the cover off.
This was acrylic paint on an older style muscle car. It was enough to turn me off. I would rather just pay the $450 to have the nose cone resprayed evry 3 or 4 years but having said that I've done plenty of miles and the car is 7 years old and I'm only thinking of a touch up now because I had the sill panels done.

I have a genuine Car Bra one for my AUIII XR6, and it works fine. I don't use travelling into town, only in long trips. The only annoying thing I have found about them is the car needs to be clean and have a nice polish on it. The polish is also the bra's downfall - I've found that on the AU bonnet it tends to slip down if you have it polished right up.

You've also got to find the right one for the car if you're looking at secondhand - if you have the front pods under your front bar you'll obviously need the right bra to suit. Mine is the front pod style one... which I may be selling....

Yep, I have one too and that's pretty much spot on.

What do you mean by Front PODS ? MonkeysXR6?
Do you mean the 2 little spoilers at each end of the front bar?
Is the Bra in good condition.. and what would you want for it?
Cheers

Yep, that's the front pods - crap name for them in my opinion, but what else do you call them.... coolness enhancers??

Anyway, bra is in good nick, the genuine Car Bra ones hold their condition much better than other brands. If I want to sell it I'll PM you shortly (wife's having a bub shortly so I'll be offline for a little while, and plenty to get sorted in the meantime).

Here is a pic of mine with a car bra.

Notice the provision at the bottom for the front pods. You can also see how it has slipped down ever-so-slightly, but I think I have the bottom straps a bit too tight though.

Make sure you get a Car Bra brand one, as the other I have seen don't fit nearly as well and also have more seams too.

Yeah they did the Tickford badge as well as blue stitching for an extra forty bucks, which I thought was worth it.

As for the car, well it needs a few things done, but overall I love it to pieces!

I didn't know they could put the Tickford badge on it - bugger!

To stop it slipping down I have the holes for the lower straps quite towards the front, so the elastic doesn't really stretch out of shape/length - doesn't seem to slip forward as much because it's not under too much forward tension. I had also thought of putting a screw through a hole in the guard clips on the top corners of the bra to also stop it falling forward, but I don't know that it would help for the effort of having a 4mm hole in the front guard...

When I first fitted the bra I hooked the straps in the middle onto the holes in the plastic stoneguard that are right at the back (they're about the size of two fifty cent pieces side by side). That was heaps too tight. When I had some spare time and a nice clean car I jacked the front up, put the bra on hooking the side on only, laid the under straps against the plastic to find where the holes would need to be, then drilled a slotted hole about 5mm x 15mm - drilled sideways so that you twist the hook in at 90deg, this will stop it falling out accidentally. Had to do this for all straps bar the chunky upper ones and the first two from the corner on each side on the bottom.

By the way, I meant above that I was going to put a couple of holes in the UNDERSIDE of the front guards, not so that you would see them from normal viewing...

Ahhh ok that is what I might have to do, beacause as I said, they are waaaaaaay too tight at the moment. I'll give it a go this weekend.

And yeah, I knew what you meant!

What brand is it? Genuine Car Bra or robco? My genuine bra doesn't have any velcro.

Autotechnica buy them from Robco being velcro.
Had the Carbra brand for my XR8 and now for the TS50, won't do a trip without it.

Gday b2tf I bought this ute 4 months ago and have been keen to learn as much about it as I could. I have learnt alot reading the stuff you guys talk about. I did some research of my own,my ute is a late August build so I rang FPV and talked to a guy by the name of jarred asked him to check on the engine size and he called back and told me it was in fact it was a a 200kw motor and since that day I have double checked with 2 other people from FPV and they come up with the same answer! Regards Freddy

Just read this post, FPV told me the motor was a 220 not a 200.

It's can't be, unless someone transplanted a 220 into it, which would be a waste of time. Post a pic of the engine bay if you can.
