hey guys we just put a tremec t5 into my brothers au2 xr8. it has irs and the tailshaft is about 2 inches too long. the box is longer but it all mounts up the same. is the tailshafts between the v8 auto and tremec t5 shorter?? i have a 6 cyl au alloy shaft which is the same length and spline as the v8 auto one. do we need to hunt down a manual shaft or do we have to get the original modified?
btw the kit is a mal wood t5 conversion and he didnt mention anything about the shafts being longer in the autos. any help appreciated

The TKO 500 and 600 were a touch longer (same as 3550 afaik) and the regular T5 was slightly shorter ... but someone else prolly know a bit more. i got a custom one for my 3550

Tremec boxes are all longer than the auto boxes, so yes you will need to shorten the shaft.
Just make shore the yoke fits into the rear of the gear box as i defenetly can confirm that the TR3650 have a diffrent output shaft than an auto. Also, IF the old tail shaft yoke fits, just get your's shortened and balenced. These guy's will shorten it for you, Duggan Balancing PTY LTD, 50 newlands rd Reservoir 9469 4550. Good luck, Mick. |
