Default AUIII XR8 Fuel Economy

Just did the first calculation of fuel useage since Iv'e had the car.

Results were:
3113.5km Speedo is out ...105 = 100km/h ..No allowance made for results
364.3 ltrs

11.7 l/100km
8.54 km/l

Edit:
Just added 155km to the total KM travelled to allow for speedo error and results changed to:

11.14 l/100km
8.97 km/l

Pretty happy with that as there's a lot of around town driving in it.

What are others getting in their AU XR8's???

On a recent trip to Melbourne I travelled from central Vic through Melb to Parkdale and stopped for a top up on the trip home about halfway between Melb and home I had travelled 321klms and the XR8 took just on 33.4 lt to fill. That out of a modified 5.0lt is pretty good I would say.

not sure about litres per 100km but since converting to manual my beast is using 60 L in just under 300km's the dyno says it's running a little rich. You can't buy economy like that.

They do run real rich from factory and benefit heaps from a good custom tune.
The missus sedan would be about the same economy wise but all depends on how its driven.

I average around 9litres per 100klm on the hwy, best ever was 8.5l/100.
And anywhere from 13l/100 to 17/100 in town depending on how I drive.

900km on a long trip, i get 450km's to a tank average day in day out driving to work, worst tank i have even gotten out of it was 330km, on freeway my L/100km's goes down to 6.8 and stays their, driving to work and back its around 12, and if i do a lot of real short under 1km trips its just hit 16.

On average filling for 450km tank i fit in 60litres.

All this on a modified engine running a 222duration 581lift cam, twin 2.5exhaust, tickford CAI off typhoon, kn filter, ported polished tb/maf/top intake making 170rwkw's at time at 10.8 mixtures full throttle. My cruise mixtures however average 18 to 1.

Now in the middle of being tuned by myself, its got 197rwkw so far (injectors too small), and economy of driving to and fro work is looking at being a tad over 500 but give me time to evaluate it fully, and there is every possibility that when i put in the 24lb injectors that it gets worse.

Mine runs rich from the little head port matching with manifolds i think. I like it. I didnt buy a V8 for fuel economy.

I used to get the sort of economy you's are getting.
These days, since going dedicated lpg-vsi and getting it stroked, diff change, more-stall etc my average consumption around town is 27L/100km
good thing lpg's still (relatively) cheap!!
One of these days I'll get around to taking it back in to get some tuning issues sorted and hopefully will start to get some improved fuel economy...
