Default Datalogging - What Works?

Has anyone successfully used any datalogging software on their AU (with just a stock PCM... I know the Haltech stuff works with an interceptor )?

I've tried Palmer Performance ScanXL which BPT assured me would work with a Mongoose cable... it can't see the PCM and I'll be asking for my money back.

I downloaded SCT Live Link to use with my Xcal2. There are 2 versions on their site, 3.41 and 4.30. The info is confusing, bit it looks like I should be using 3.41. It fails with a "Failed to Initialise" warning when I try to run it on my notebook. Anyone had any luck with either version? I'm going to try 4.30... as soon as it downloads all the updated bloatware from Micro$oft that it needs to run :

I'm interested in this too... I have a cable based on the ELM327, but haven't found software that works with it and the AU.
For those who have one, and can use hyperterminal, may like to look at the following data sheet on the ELM327 chip (which is the most common interface between a PC and the OBD interface).

we used Innovate lm2 for datalogging, you just attached the sniffer up the pipe, but a inductive clamp over an ignition lead, and hook a wire upto tps for throttle position. thats how i've been doing it and getting our results.

We have a reader too, but doesn't work properly either.

I am running the innovate lm1 and rpm convertor. I log air fuel, rpm, tps.I record it all and download graphs to computer. It will amaze you how the tune changes and what alters it. You have to know how to use it. I have solved a few problems with this unit.

Yes but you are changing intercepted signals, so weird results will happened, compared to changing ecu parameters which are much more direct.

Air fuel readings from the exhaust are correct. The rpm signal is a clean signal from the eecv.Tps readings just tell me when I am getting 100% wot.

Here is my 14.241 run

I've got SCT LiveLink working now, using v3.41. For anyone else having the same problem, installing the .net framework 2.0 (download and run dotnetfx.exe) makes 3.41 work. Apparently the 4.30 install wizard checks for and installs it if needed. The 3.41 installer isn't as sophisticated.

Interesting you mention the LM2 Matt, I thought it had to be wired in (ie cutting & joining wires)? I'm starting to think of going this way anyway as I want to plot AFR against RPM. LiveLink will sort of do this for petrol using raw HEGO voltage... my voltage at idle cycles between approx 0.2v and 2v in a lovely smooth almost sine wave... I have to look up the specs of the HEGO to check if this is sane.

On LPG it's a different matter. The idling HEGO reading is almost steady by comparison... more a sawtooth between 0.9v and 1.1v. Then the HEGO voltage rises linearly as revs rise. Of course the HEGO wire is cut and the LPG lambda controller is between HEGO and PCM, so it gives the PCM a pre-programmed signal.

So I need an independent O2 sensor of some sort. I have an LC-1 which I was going to install with a bung near the OEM HEGO sensor, but I really want some level of integration between readings.

So the LM2 will give a good indication of AFR with a probe up the pipe? Tell me more...
