GP4 has extremely limited Physics and was apart from the lack of developer support one of its major drawbacks[/QUOTE]
That maybe true for the game out of the box, but there were millions of people working on upgrades, patches, visual upgrades, physics etc. It was awesome in terms of 'what could be done'!

Don't wanna burst your bubble or anything. It isn't that great of a game. It has ok physics and crash engine is kind of good. Drifting is fun but gets boring. It just seems like a 'Souless' racer to me.

I have - Grid: Race Drive, on PS3 and it's hopeless, tracks are repetitve and AI is uninspiring. If you have an XBOX 360, get Forza 2, all-in-all the most realistic and challenging racing/building game I've played. It's also got over 200 cars, tuning options, thousands of possible mods, and billions of potential paint schemes (you'll never see two the same). With new downloadable content on the xbox live marketplace every couple of months, you'll never get tired of this games potential.

The GT5 prologue demo was pritty impressive, as far as driving dynamics go it is par with Forza 2. I can only imagine that this will become the new benchmark racing game but Forza, at least for now, is the best going round.

Forza game physics may be fun, but i can't see how you can say they are the best going around? i'd say most realistic would be best going around!

consoles suck for driving games... they're made arcade becuase thats what 'gamers' want.
yes the thread is called best car 'games' ever, but sims, to me, offer wayyyy more enjoyment, becuase they can be related to. pushing 'left' to go left on a console really doesn't do it for me |

Most driving games do suck.
Simulations no longer exist really. It is hard to find a true simulation. I used to love driving games, but I don't touch them anymore because there seems to be more of a focus on brand names, graphics and sound, but no focus on gameplay. Actually, that is the gaming industry as a whole nowadays.

i dont see how you can just catagorize console games like that GORDZ
yes there are alot of arcade type games because most people cant drive/stand concentrating that hard to play a game.. but GT5 isnt.. and it calls it self a sim.. unsure about any of the other racing games(like F1 or v8 supercar games) as i havnt played them) but attach a steering wheel and it makes console games/sims alot more fun

more fun yes, but the physics system still lacks. The game wont change because you changed your input peripheral. It annoys me how GT4s motto was 'real simulator racing' or something similar, yet with 1108kw (TVR speed 12 hell yeah) you can't do a donut in GT4? sorry, but as FUN as consoles are, i don't think the BEST (thread title) game can be from a console.
Don't take me as a console bashing PC nerd... i spent 4 hours on GT4 last night and nailed a 7.7second quarter mile in the Toyota Minolta (WOOO)!! |

I have a MOMO Logitech FF wheel and only way to go (with the wheel option). I use it on V8 Supercars 3. That's one of the best that does me. It's physics are pretty good. It's gameplay does me. I have also tried to fly a plane (MS Flight Sim 2004) with the wheel, now that's fun.... V8 1 was crap, Bathurst had a very unreal Reid Park. If you got the car in the right spot and the right speed, car would launch of the top of the crest and land about half way down Reid Park (the dip in Reid park), heading in to the next fast left on to skyline was real fun. But you have to race the Caterhams and the DTMS in V8 3, awesome with a wheel. I just need the Aerial Atom in there now, and heaven. I am in the BMW race on the champ round (second last round before F1's). Bathurst is just so awesome, I always have the car "on edge". It's just like how the mirrors get ripped off all the time, like in the real V8's. I learnt with the "S's" and "The Dipper" areas, not to use the brake, just coast through with 3rd gear, now that's fun. Just need the "dragstrip" add on pack now, ahaha. |

I find the v8supercar mod for Rfactor to be more fun. I love starting against a full field of cars from the back of the grid, and trying to make up as many positions as I can over the course of about 5 laps.
