Hey guys, was wondering what peoples thoughts are on the Au xr8 engine cowlings- and heat retention??
Coming into summer should we be taking our engine cowlings off? storing them and putting them on only for shows etc? Cheers peter |

well commode owners take theirs off because they reckon they run cooler without, but the au ones don't seem too restrictive...

the LS1 items are like a shell over the engine..
where as the XR8 ones are just a lil cowly thing that still retains what seems to be a bit of airflow

I think the ford version may actually help improve flow around the intake. rather than hinder it, i personally would leave it on, just remember that the temp compensation maps in the stock eec are set for it, if you do anything that changes the temp of the inlet in comparison to the Air intake temp sender you will actually make the tune of your car less stable.

.. I took mine off my VY SV8 and replaced it with a set from a VZ which just cover the coil packs, not the intake. I'd doubt that the engine cover will retain any more heat than not having one and just having the hood closed. If you were worried about it maybe you could provide some sought of venting for the hot, underhood air? |
