Lightbulb D.I.Y Handbrake and Facia Help please!

ok so i have an RDO tommorow and am going to put my leather handbrake/chrome button in as well as a custom Facia i ordered, how ever i can seem to find the "how to" guide on changing the facia and hardly if any information on changing the handbrake.

1st to change the handbrake all i know is that you have to take the drivers side chair out, and use a 10mm socket on 4 bolts maybe more, other then that im not to sure

2nd how do u go about chaning the faica ? i know its risky due to the needles having a tendance to snap but ill take care,

if someone can help would be appricated

cheers

you mean the dash fascia? use a fork. slide the middle seperation of the fork behind the needle, where it attaches to the pin on the instrument and pull it out. means you won't have to grab the actual needle, preventing you from bending the bugger

with the handbrake all you do is lossen the cabel bolt undo all the bolts think there is 3 make sure you notice how the cabel goes in when putting the new 1 on thread the cabel in and tighten a little so it stays there then put the bolts back on to hold it and tighten them then pull the handbreak up 2 clicks and tighten the cabel bolt to howeva you want it hope that helps

there's 2 screws behind caps on the top edge of the cluster, you'll need to drop the steering wheel to get to them easier. it then just slides out.i hooked 2 allen keys into the holes and pulled, but some have found it easier to get behind the dash and push

*CAREFUL* when pulling it out... the bottom of the cluster is stuck to the dashboard... run a butter knife under it to prevent it ripping the vinyl... i learnt this the hard way brad... just go really slow and be patient...

How'd you go with the facia? I'm keen to see what this looks like as i'll hopefully be doing this in a few weeks.

I seem to recall taking my seat out to change the handbrake then realising I didn't really need to, the covers can just come off and do a change-over for the leather one.

I'm pretty sure it does. The old rubber one pulls off forwards, then the button can be unscrewed. Then screw on the new chrome button, then push the leather handgrip bit on, then slide the vinyl 'leather' boot over the whole lot.

hey i did it all, sorry for the late replys didnt finish till late the other night had to do a few thigns thew out the day as well,

mattp - yeah u can just slide the covers off, undo the buttons.. but with the full leather and pouch u have to reomve the chair, due to the platic casing under the pouch that sits over the lower part of the handbrake frame and slides under the carpet, and there isnt enuff room behind the handbrake and the center console to push the side of the pouch down all the way, only takes 5-mins to take out the chair if it aint electric

the photos aint the best due to shakyness that i have as well as using my camera phone but here they are,

thanks for the help everyone and i must say using the a butter knife to hold the unit upo while pulling it out using the allen keys is the easiest and quickest way.

cheers Brad`
