Default 49.9cpl fuel

Today a Sydney Servo turned back the clock selling fuel for 49.9cpl and no it was not a protest like the Blacktown Servo. so will fuel drop as low as this in the near future, i never thought fuel would drop below a $1.00 but it did, so is this the new low in petrol prices

In Shepp, we cant even get it below $1.15/ltr. let alone that craziness.
But i guess they have to subsidise for robberies and theft...

fuels ok in Adelaide. 99.9 today and back to 116.5 late in arvo. 49.9 doesn't seem a reality just yet over here, but on the news apparently they will keep dropping the price till big companies play right.

Dopping the price to 49.9c is a gimmick to create publicity and to get people talking about their servo.

I don't see 49c becoming mainstram, ever.

Don't forget diesel users as well.

I use two different fuels in our cars, diesel and LPG, and I'm getting screwed on both of them.

we should be paying around 75-80c a litre.when fuel was high a barrel of oil cost either $147 a barrel or $174 (feel free to correct this).it is now down to $37 a barrel yet we are still being ripped off.

just goes to show we are being ripped off and the government dont really give a crap about the environment.

we tap our own lpg here in autralia, yet when petrol goes up which is understandable when the price of a barrel of oil goes up, but they put lpg up at the same time, there is no justification for this as lpg is not costing us anymore to produce. the reason they do this is to rip people off. the thing is if they did not put the price of lpg gas up when fuel was off the rictor, many people would change to lpg to save money and supposedly the environment but quess what the government would not be ripping the massive amounts of tax of us through the sale of fuel, so this is the only reason I can see why they do this, a blatant ripp off and dont give a stuff about the environment or the people trying to save some money when things are tight. If you have a better explanation please let us know.

In Melbourne petrol has gone up nearly 20c at the start of the cycle to 116.9 i think it is. Oil is $37 per barrel atm. Anyone have a reason for the large jump other than a money grab?

i think thats because the au$ has gone down so far compared to the us dollar in recent months. if it was still so close to the us then the petrol prices would be very low. atleast thats my understanding of it. that and government taxes.

Another reason is that the Government lose money the more petrol goes down so their happy for it to be 95c at it's lowest point. And the main reason the ACCC said that the petrol companies were not ripping us off recently.

I sure do.
LPG was once this way. Australia is as completely self-sufficient (or near enough to) with LPG as it ever was. However, what was happening when we regulated our own prices of LPG, which were often below the international benchmark, overseas companies would export LPG at our low prices leaving us with not enough and we'd have to import from overseas at the international price. So:
Now australia goes with the Saudi Aramco Contract Price, which is the international benchmark for Propane and Butane (LPG) prices.
When global demand for fuels goes up, Oil and LPG are closely tied. If the world's economy is in boom, the supply/demand ensures the prices are high, and vice versa. The government does care about LPG, thats why even though they do not put an excise on LPG they hand out a $2000 rebate anyway.
We are not being ripped off for the price of Petrol or LPG. There are so many bodies (govt and otherwise) and so many sets of eyes on every single move the oil refineries make, they wouldn't dare rip us off if its only going to blow up in their face when they get found out.
