Default Fairmont Ghia V8

I've taken the plunge and fitted a set of Di Fillipo headers to my monty that i won off ebay the other week. I already had a 3 inch cat back redback system fitted, and have had my eye on the di fillipo's for quite some time. I'm not sure if it was really the most logical choice i could have made since the engine is pretty much bog stock, but they're on now so there's no turning back.

The only other modifications carried out to the vehicle so far is the fittment of a brand new LSD and carrier. I think the cost of that alone convinced me not to sell the car at the time, and renewed my enthusiasm it.

Now that i've come this far i guess i've decided to keep the car, which has been a decision plaguing my mind for quite a while now. I was rear ended last year just before christmas time and just wasn't happy with the repairs, even though i took it back to the panel beaters twice, but i guess u never will be unless u do the job yourself. The dodgy repairs (still kinda looks ok) and the fact that the car has pretty high K's, verging 300,000 were basically my reasons for wanting to sell.

So hear i am, the first post of what may possibly be another long winded AU falcon build up, and hopefully an exciting one. Where to next u might ask? Well I'm not really sure to be honest. I'm keen on a few mods, but really just want it to be a stout cruiser for the time being. I'd love to lower it onto some coilovers with some 19's and 6 pot brembos, with the addition of a 5 speed manual. Keep it simple and tidy the body up a little bit. If all goes well in those catergories, i guess a 347 stroker could even be somewhere in the pipeworks.

If you guys have any idea's of how to wake this tired old windsor up a little in the meantime, all comments are welcome. I'm planning on picking up a G&D CAI some time in the near future, but i know that the engine may still need a bit of pepping up.

Thanks people, Adam

How does it sound/drive with the new headers? Are they 4-1 design?

I've gotta take the car back tomorrow because there's a bit of a rattle up the back end. I think the dodgy lebo broke something during the header install, which is suprising because the rattle is towards the back. Since the motor's relatively stock, it only really picks up from say 3000 rpm, below that it's gutless. Above that she sounds sweet tho, i'll take it out on the highway a bit later tonight and see how she cruises. And yes they are 4 into 1's, i forget the pipe size (1 and 3/4?) but they have a 3 inch collector and di fillipo high flow cats.
