Gday all, still trying to figure out if im posting in the right area, so sorry if not.
But i recently got an AU fairmont v8 wagon and was wondering what the differences were between it and its xr8 sedan brother. I wanted to find out to try and get it as close to the xr8s specs as possible. thanks in advance, - OZZ829 |

The standard AU V8 was 175kW. The XR8 went from 185 to 200 to 220kw over the years.
The XR had a larger exhaust than the standard V8 with twin tips. Similar difference to what existed between Fairmont Ghia (VCT engine) and the XR6 VCT which were 168kW & 172kW respectively. The exhaust was THE difference. The biggest difference was tuning and throttle body? between the 185 and 200kW versions. The 220kW had alloy heads and different cams. PS other than that you need to be more specific (if you can) in your questions. As suggested by redau.

Another difference between 175kw and 185kw that has not been noted (unless it is on pages 2,3 or 4 of the sticky thread linked above..... I did'nt bother to read them :togo: ) is that the 185kw had an alloy spun intake trumpet in the upper airbox half.
