I had a look on the QT website, but can anyone confirm or point me in direction of details on engine conversions?
what I am after is what is the max cubic capacity you can go to depending on a vehicles weight, or is it based on other factors? thanks in advance jas |

no, I know of that part but I am talking about major modification of total engine swap.
I had an old 1.5l excel that was fitted with 2L turbo (triple original power) and it was mod plated and rego'd etc what I am trying to find out is what is max engine capacity you can put into a car based on its weight/original specs. thanks |

I was reading the rules just last week I'see if I caqn find where they were for you guys.

That means that the biggest motor I can put in the Gemini is a 2.6T or a 3.8 N/A. It also means I cant supercharge the ED XR8, and my mate cant turbo his BA XR8.
GTP_290, you're time and effort is much appreciated, but are you sure this information is correct? Was there and additional notes or info that came with the above table?

Your best bet it to call someone that does mod plates, they will be able to confirm this table and also give you some tips and tricks to help you with your conversion.
As an example, the mazda RX7 series 1. In QLD it is illegal to put in a 13b turbo rotary however if you speak to an engineer they will tell you that it is because it has drum brake rear and is 50kg to light the they will tell you how to get around those problems. You could call the department of transport but you will more than likely be waiting a while for an answer that will change with every person you talk to there. EDIT: Also just noticed the second part of your post bud. The engine conversion rules are different to the power adding rules. You shouldn't have a problem adding a turbo or supercharger to vehicles that have the standard engine fitted although some cars are touch and go. |
