I sold my first car in June 1993 and would like to find out where it is. What is the best method to do this? I still remember the registration number. If I went to VicRoads would they be able to assist me?

i would say unless you had a friend in the rta i would say unlikely propbably comes under privacy laws or some like that

Best you can hope for is to do a revs check and see if the car comes up

You could always report the car to be driving dangerously then sit on a scanner and hope like hell they mention the name of the offending cars registror...then go from there...of course you'd need to know what area the car was in...not much chance of ir working this way come to think of it :P
OR i think police have the right to give you the details of a car involved with a hit and run i think... These are both pretty devious and oughtto get you in some serious trouble if they find out your full of though! All i could come up with... -Stu |

I believe the police would handle the inquiry in relation to a hit and run, then they would pass on the details

Due to the 'Privacy Act' you can not legally obtain the details of the owner of a vehicle. There is no way.
REVS or VSR will not tell ya! Police will not and can not give you this information, even if you state it was envolved in illegal act. However if it is proven that the car was not involved in this act you will be charged for lodging a false complaint.

lotsa trouble eh :P I'm sure a mate was involved in a carpark incident, and the police supplied him with the other drivers contact details. They possibly rang this guy first to get his permission.... |
