Default 4.11 diff gears confusion

Hi, seen some cheap 4.11's on ebay and was going to buy them, so thought Id ring a few places see what it costs to install them.

First price was $500-$1000 which I didnt like I thought thats about what I expected. Rang another place and they said they'll put in new 4.11 diff gears and bushes (dont know what bushes he was talking about) for $1000. Naturally I said thats great, give me a few weeks to get the money. Then he calls me back and says that the only 4.11 gears he knows wont fit in my xr6 (something about a crown and pinion too big or too small) and that he'd get back to me. Then he gets back to me and says only pintara and skyline diff gears will fit?

Oh and to make it more confusing, the gears on ebay, the guy says they will fit my car, when the diff place says they wont

Pretty sick of it, does anyone know exactly what I need to look for for my 99 AU1 xr6 HP, and can anyone recommend any businesses with good prices in victoria or tas to buy them off and ill get them installed down here?

With diff ratio upgrades all I can say is buy them from, and have them installed by, a reputable place - do some research. I read a thread a few months ago about some gears around of inferior quality . Don't go cheap. Last thing you want is broken teeth on a crownwheel or pinion just beacuse you bought a cheapy part

Dave, DON"T buy the chaep sh%t mate, they will whine like a stuck pig.

Ring Northern differentials in Melb and seek their advice.

I nearly got caught out buying some cheap gears (crownwheel and pinion) for $695.

Found out they were made in HO CHI MIN city. Branded Motive Gear (a reputable brand from America...........)

then I turned around and brought the proper OE stuff for about twice as much..... :
