"Cut n Polish" places?

im looking at getting a "cut n polish" professionally done to my car and was wondering if anyone on here knows a good place to get it done (east melb).

SVR73 sorry to jump in on this thread but seeing as you're the detail dude, can you tell me what a good product to remove watermarks is? My detailer is telling me to remove them he acid washes the car then buffs it, but to be honest I dont like the sound of acid on the car and I'd like to have a bash at it myself.

Any recommendations?

Depends on if he means white vinegar (a mild acid that is fine for cars) or a true acid product such as ACIDET, which is in powder form that you mix into 10 litres of warm water and wash your car with it
That crap softens the clear coat and makes it easier to scratch

If the marks are surface, washing with white vinegar should do it, if not, wash with shampoo and 10ml of KLASSE AIO and then clay the paint
Then re seal the car with wax or sealant

If they are etched, the cars needs to be washed with white vinegar, clayed after drying and then machine buffed. Menzerna polishes are best for this
have had great success removing surface waterspots that have dried up for a whole day with P21s finish restorer.

Ask him if he uses white vinegar or an actual purchaseable acid wash product like ACIDET

If he does use acidet or similar, find someone else or do it yourself

Dont think he meant white vinegar but now that youve told me it works I might try it myself. Just straight white vinegar in a bit of water or something? Or should I dilute it a fair bit? The wax covers it but after washing they're still pretty obvious to the point where I wanna remove them.

This is why I am doing clinics, hopefully in the future I will be able to do them for eastern staters.
Hand polishing is harder than using orbital, PC or rotary but the days of circular motions pushing hard into the paint are gone.
I suggest you try a hitachi or other brand of orbital buff.

Get huggy b from another ford forum to teach you, he's in your neck of the woods I believe.

I haven't done it that much myself. My mates at the detail forum do and with good success. You will have to re seal the paint after though
I believe so, stick a fair amount in a 10L bucket of water and wash away

It may not do the trick or it could work magic, all depends how long the spots have been sitting there and etched in.

Alrighty, I'll give it a go after i finish typing this. Plan of attack is about 300mls of vinegar in a bucket of water, ill hose down the car first to remove all the dirt etc, then have a go at it with the solution. After that I'll wash it as usual, then wax it, and hopefully all should be good.

If there's no paint left on the car after that, I'll hunt you down and kill you, so its nothing to worry about : :king: .

ive used a few waxes/cutting agents on my orignial white paint on my eb...
the best thing ive come across for it was t cut...its coloured and gets into little scratches..brings up your paint like new....also removes waters stains like a charm

I have always used that place on Racecourse Road next to the freeway, magic car wash???

My last 4 new cars always had a cut, polish there.

Good thing you can sit outside with you car and watch them work.

Curiousity killed the cat. SVR73 the brand I used to cut the car is called ferecla , there are two types that I use one is a little more course for the first stage then I go over it again with a finer cut (same brand ), then I apply a hand polish (another brand) to seal the work I have done. One Month later I like to reseal the hand polish because you don't know what people wash or treat there cars like and all that work goes down the drain, this way I can be sure my work is not wasted . Like lambs wool, cat fur is also no good. have a good one.

Oh yeah, I know farecla, I ditched it for Menzerna and SFX
Menzerna is unmatched worldwide in ease of use (all swirls/holograms gone in two steps), quality of finish, the product range, can use ceramiclear polishes on conventional paints and how you can use any other product on top of it.

Farecla however is better than 3M, Magnum top gear and others.
I don't touch lambswool pads.

Yes they are. They also use the same products as I do plus a lot more.
