Hi all
My son and I drove down from Sydney to Canberra over the weekend. Being on L's he had to drive at 80 km's per hour. I took not the the LGP on the way down. We I refliied the tank for the trip home we had done 420 kms and had used 50 litres of LPG which means we did 11.905 L/100km or 23 mpg Its the first time I have do a long trip on such a 'low' speed. We got overtaken by every thing... UK

so UK , is that better or worse economy than you would have expected? i`ll take a guess it`s worse , 80kph would`nt be the ideal speed for optimum running in the Au i would imagine.

I usually get around 12-13 in the wagon on family trips with highway runs.
That's at the 110 limit, so I guess 11 is about right. Ooops, just read the post again. 11.9. At 80 kays that's a bit too high. Perhaps your intake needs to go stock? I know you have a spare in your boot! Perhaps whack that on, from the airbox all the way to the TB and see how that goes. Cheers! GK

Ive seen in the 9's with this car, with 3.9's, and all the mods below. Average is 10.82ish I think.

Next time I will do 110 and see of there is any difference. The taco sat under 2000 rpm at 80 (about 1800 to 1900) on the flat.

Ideal running speed for an AU for economy is about 90-95kph, ie locked up 4th at about 1600rpm. For the record, my AU with aircon off does 11.7L/100klms on split 100/110 zone pure highway driving. Doing 92 and drafting trucks saw me get this down to 10.4, but that was hypermiling crap that just wasn't worth it.

Haha!!! Classic.
In all seriousness though, the 80k limit for L Platers in NSW is a ************** joke. How are you meant to learn to drive on highways when you can only do a city speed? :
