So the massive oil refineries, one of Australia's biggest shipping dock systems or the International Commonwealth Games are safe then. A local footy match that is heavily police against the locals (not to mention Crazies with no tickets from the middle east) would be a far more attractive hit.

Apparently Melbourne has already been hit!

In the early hours of Sunday an explosive device was detonated in Federation Square but due to its unique architecture the damage was not able to be distinguished from the original design.

well i'm very surprised most people find this thread amusing .on another note why is it civilians who always get targeted . and not politicians or governments. anyhow i think this thread should be locked .

i think the reason is that we as australia have never been targeted like this and we would all get serious if it happens, look at america they thought it would never happen to them same as the britts and after it happened they got serious

I'm seeing two sides to all of this, I'm seeing building managers and politicians with no clues running around in abject panic at something frightening but about as likely as a meteor strike.

I am also seeing action to arm up, stand resilient, to any cowardly terrorist threats. No bunch of manic fanatics are going to threaten the lifestyle in the west or in their own countries. I dont have to worry, the only time I'm in the city is when I'm at RMIT in carlton, and two reasons I'm safe....
1. RMIT is in debt to their eyeballs so who gives a rats, that and the students already hate the govt as it is apparently, or so all the friggen posters say.
2. Lygon street....Melbourne's seedy underbelly would not take lightly to it....lol

Its funny how they think they are so brave and couragous but rather than do something constructive that might actually achieve something they rather kill a bunch people or blow s**t up which does nothing but makes us even more ****ed off.

When will these dumbarses learn we dont negotiate with terrorists. I would say go ahead blow yourselfs up if it didnt mean innocent people get killed in the process.

They can blow as much infrastructure and people up as they like but it wont change a damn thing. In the end they are dying for nothing
