Years of heritage could be axed with the Ford design chief all but confirming the end of the traditional rear-drive Falcon.

If Ford can't build both front wheel drive and rear wheel drive platforms, particularly taking into account Lincoln and Mustang then they really are a useless bunch!

I can't see AWD being a bad thing. Aslong as the body is still Falcon and not Taurus. Oh also the I6 would be nice too.
But people have said an AWD F6 would be awesome and I agree so we may get that chance yet. |

L6 been done in OZ before
2.6 litre six cylinder the same motor they had in the P76 and Marina !973/75 fitted longitude driving the rear wheels and in the Austin Kimberly/Tasman 2.6 litre six cylinder fitted transversely driving the front wheels IE East/West and all built in Sydney 1970/72 so it has been done before here in Australia Why if you can have AWD in a large car why cant you just do away with the FWD parts wouldnt that just leave you with a RWD car or am I missing something also the Yanks have had 400 CI motors in FWD for the last 40 years then I once looked under the bonnet of a Cadilac limo and it had a 4 cylinder sitting sideways so who knows John Last edited by last fairlane; 12-01-2011 at 12:56 PM. The AWD in my Tezza seems to be done with a longitudinal I6.
The AWD in the previous gen Holden was done with a longitudinal V6/V8. The AWD in my mate's Subura may be a Flat 4, but it is longitudinal. The AUDI AWD layouts all appear to be longitudinal. Theory that longitudinal layouts mean no AWD now successfully debunked.... Lukeyson
