my 79 escort needs paint

hi guys i am new to ford forums and i am an avid ford supporter i am twelve years old and i am looking to paint my '79 escort and i am looking for suggestions if you have any paint or sticker ideas please do post them prefferably with photos thanks heaps

12? Is that allowed on this forum? Anything at least half decent would cost way to much. Unless you want to paint it with spray cans? btw "avid" is a big word for a 12 year old.

Sure thing. Your best bet would be to get some help from say a relative like your dad or an uncle or someone who knows a thing or two about cars. Get them to guide you and ask them plenty of questions. Its a big job to paint a car and for it to turn out nice so i think the best thing to start of with is a bit of help.

Here's a few ideas for you. Sorry don't have any in blue, but MK2 does look good in a dark blue. I'll have the yellow one with the bonnet up and that engine thanks.

i may be young but i have been working hard mowing lawns and now i am looking to do it up and thanks for those of you who stood up for me. also to you VioletGT avid is only four letters long its not that big

Yep, good on ya mate for getting out there mowing lawns etc to get your spending money, you are learning good ethics from a young age. You have time on your side to be able to get it to where you want to be before you are able to get a licence. Knowing a good job will cost plenty of $$$$, what do the apprentice spray painters practise on at tafe, I have no idea, just putting a suggestion out there. You might be able to get a half decent job if the car was available as a project??? Don't know, someone else may be able to fill in some gaps.

Welcome I recon you have the right idear at 12 u got heeps of time to get the car right if you just work hard and save heeps you will be right. Great Lil cars they are if I wasn't so tall I would have a mk1 but too tall keep the pics and info coming mate

I think all the examples above are great - though went dark blue myself for the RS2000...Squeeze a Cossie turbo with 30psi, some choice suspension and it drives like a cut cat on LSD..........Best of British in your decision going forward. CheeRS, Mark.

Always a fan of the RS only colour Midnight; depending on light can look anything from black through to purple - very hard colour to photograph though

Good on you B.A.D my 12 year old son spellsa well too. William just took out the 2010 race times for the year in his RS2000,racing adult class 4 cylinders dirt circuit. I wish it still looked like the midnight blkue one on here.
The first week he had the car it was written off in the front end and has had a standard front grafted on to keep looking reasonable.
I drove Escorts as a teenager and loved them. The work I have done on his engine makes it competitive with the V8's on the track. I always remember seeing an Escort years ago painted British racing green ( very close to the Poison Ivy green of holdens) with black trim around windows and black mats on the bonnet, lots of chrome where it needs to be. Looked real nice.
Good luck with your car. I am looking for a good body to do up for my son for when he turns 16. Getting hard to find, we have 7 Mk2's for parts and am currently setting up a second race car for Williams Mum to race.

a couple of pics for your interest one of the car rebuilt the other prior to rebuild catching the field on the second lap of six laps from a one lap handicap, he won this race just prior to blowing his original engine.
