Question Please Speak Enlglish

I work in a computer shop and was just reading the back of a speaker box. I will type some of the stuff, word for word. I apologise for the spelling errors, they are not mine, but the manufacturer's.

For people who reatly want to enjoy value good looking and superior performance this is your true choice, Just plug-in and enjoy

For people who love their favonte music. This speaker has wonderful power output to handle your music. No matter what kind of music you like it always tries its best to satisfy you.

In you R& D depanment our engineers try our bestio thalyze and develop the best circuit for our cusfomcrs The mstiltis, the speakcr has a very low distortion rate.

and my personal favourite

This speaker one of out dest multimedis speakers, has avery flat frequency response curve. The flkat curve means more music delaifs can be hoard.

Well, I'm not even sure what the last one is trying to say! lol.

They are internal speakers that are sold with systems that we build. They go inside the computer and the customers never see the box!

What the hell ir a returm button? Does that allow you to take it back to the shop where you bought it?

I just love japlish. My wife is a japanese teacher who has spent a bit of time in Japan, so I've seen my fair share of it. She has this shirt which reads "Reraxd in the Natur" I love it!

Reminds me of PJ O'Rourke explaining the Ferrari owners manual:

"Translated from Italian to English by someone who only speaks Japanese..."

Sounds about right. I have always said that whoever translates stuff, should always translate to what their natural language, not from. That way, they know if it makes sense.

There's sites devoted to engrish.. for a start try www.engrish.com

I worked at Strathfield Car Radio a while ago and we got SO MUCH crap like that.. imported from china, half the stuff wasn't even recognisable as english words.

I heard sometimes it's because they scan in another product's box/manual using OCR software and as anyone who's used older OCR software it makes mistakes that you're supposed to fix so it learns. Obviously they don't realise it's wrong and just throw it on.

I reckon it's an idea for a business.. setup a fax/email for chinese companies to send their draft box designs and manuals and you correct the problems for them. With the amount of engrish we saw working at stratties you'd be RICH in now time!

I reckon its a good idea for us to stop buying cheap crud or encouraging it to keep coming to our shores.
If they cant put the effort in to find out what words should mean/look like/sound like/etc, what the hell is going on inside it.

Haha good point.

In the end when we sold that stuff we found it was mostly people who couldn't have afforded the object in the first place, if it weren't for the fact it was cheap crap.

Personally with -everything- I buy if I can't afford a good one, I just wait and save up more. I don't like buying cheap stuff.. it's cheap for a reason.

I tend to do my best to buy Australian. Like, when I go shopping, I look for the aussie made stuff instead of the fully sick imports. I know that if no-one buys aussie made, my kids wont have jobs and there will be now dole to support them cause there will be no-one paying tax!

I was in China not to long ago and the factory I was visiting made besides other things, microwave ovens for export. The label on the front had a picture of a baby with a red cross through it. The words NO BABIES were superimposed over the top. LMAO. The chinese are classics.

I always love reading toy boxes from overseas. Often my sister will show them to me because they are so terribly hilarious.
