The question is self explanatory. I think the golf, maybe the GTi or the tdi is faster than the G6;at least which I own.Maybe it can outrun the G6E in a 0-100,especially the twin charged versions of golf.I read that golf has a version which has a turbo and supercharger! Thats double trouble!!! If these small germans with smaller engines and much fuel efficient are evolving, where does that leave our Ford cars? All comments welcome.Ta

The supdercharged & turbocharged golf engine is for fuel economy reasons. The engine was downsized to 1.6L from 2.0L. Doubt it's faster than a G6E turbo. Golf GTI does 0-100 in about 7 secs, high 6's.

it does`nt mean anything, the falcons little slower off the line, it`s certainly no slouch in the upper speed range.

Interesting comparison. I will be looking into a Golf TDI/GTI later on and have often wondered what would be quicker to 100kph. But they are 2 very different cars in their own right. The Golf will be very fuel efficient, but the G6E has more room, etc. Lots of pro's and con's between the 2. Different horses for different courses. Comes down to what suits your lifestyle.
The Golf is a cool little car though. The supercharger/turbocharger version would be good and I have seen video's of them moving well. But like I said, they are in a different league to the G6E which has huge amounts of lazy torque on tap.

The TDi is quick off the mark and goes pretty well ... but the BF EGAS ute pulls away from it from about 60-70km/h
My workmate has a MkV TDi 2L with 6-speed manual ... he has to keep gear change to keep it going ... I change into 2nd at around 95km/h. GTi is a different story ... they boot along quite well.

It is kind of pointless comparing them in a drag race though. They are designed to achieve different results in the long run. The Golf is small and would be a breeze to park in the city, plus its got plenty of go in traffic and is pretty good on the juice. The falcon is different again, plenty of power to tow, cart people around, cheap to buy and is also a good highway cruiser.
The reason I would buy a Golf is, generally very good build quality, pretty reliable, easy to park, goes good off the line, fun to drive, reasonably good on fuel (depending on what model you have and what your driving style is), handles well without much tweaking, hatch back is handy to have. The model I would choose is either an R32, GTI, or GT Sport.

For what it's worth, many journalists make the point that the Golf's electric power steering system is devoid of feel. The opposite is usually said of the FG Falcon's hydraulic rack and pinion system.
