Your engine will run cleaner without a breather recirculating back into the intake.....

PCV valve wont work unless its a totaly sealed system with no breathers to atmosphere.
So Pcv valve piped to catch can, catch can to inlet manifold.
Inlet manifold provides the vaccuum necessary to open the PCV.
I havnt done this (yet) but how else do you get a pcv valve to work?

that will make the pcv work, but you will still get crankcase gasses into the inlet which will carbon up the motor more quickly.
all a pcv valve does is stop oil being sucked into the inlet when the engine is under full throttle.
the cleanest way to run the motor would be to run both rocker cover breather and pcv into the catch can and plug off the air filter fitting.
if its done this way you dont need the pcv so you can cut the end of the valve off and remove the plunger if you like.
if you do this tho, make sure you mount the catch can as high as possible and run a large diameter hose (say 3/4 inch) from the pcv to catch can as high revs and high speed cornering can push oil up into catch can and it can overflow.
