Default big Leaves in cabin filter

cleaned out my cabin air filter the other day and found some leaves that were 4" long by 1-1/2" wide

how does something that big get through the grill under the windshield?

is there a way to stop them, but then i suppose I won't be parking under trees like that but it's just got me a bit mystified how something that large could get in there!

oh! hell.....pine needles....those things get into everything....mine were gumtree leaves and gum nuts with the associated dusty stuff

they were bad enough, I reckon I got a small ice cream containers worth out of it
