And here I was thinking a few inch deep and a few inch in circumference was bad enough. THAT is a pothole.

Damn, that is pretty bad! I thought the "she'll be right" attitude towards road repair up here was bad, after almost needing a wheel alignment after taking a drive up the highway to north brisbane and back. Gateway highway I think it was = fkd

That pot is fairly typical of the wagga city council. There's a huge one one the highway, if you hit the on the wrong side it would got close to putting you into a tree on the side of the road. Gotta love wagga road hey Pete

Looks hollow undernaeth it as well ... and it's cracking around the outside of it ... knowing the road work contractors ... they'll just pump concrete in it like they did with the Lane Cove "crater".

Yeah, Standard. Anyone who lives around Knox/Glen Waverley area in Melbourne will know Burwood Hwy and Springvale Rd. In some sections most of the top level Tarmac has simply washed away leaving awkward sized holed sections of the road. Also the Monash FWY is corrigated in many parts. Is the Government joking??? Where is all the Speed Camera revenue, Registration money, etc..... going??? It certainly isnt going towards improving roads and road safety.
A few ad campaigns here and there cost money, but as far as i can tell they to Jack Squat for road safety. Desipite all this they are building all these Tunnels and Bypasses..... of which we will have to fork out for Tolls, so i do ask the question. Where is the money going??? |

A 'Territory' pot-hole/crater (above)??
Bah - the yellow lines AND vegetation signal this as being North America.

Simple equation here
NSW Roads = Bad and further to this statement any NSW road which is outside of Sydney is even worse. Im embrassed at the fact that the most populous state in Australia has roads which seem to be the worst in the nation Youd been amazed at how many times the NSW RTA will continue 'patching' a road instead of regrading it.

Georgetown to Bridport road is the worst I have come across. Ruts so big that the top of the road has been removed from cars bottoming out on it. Hit one of these with a sump and it would be very nasty.
Looks like road revenue is being allocated to the same place all over.

I travel along Peel St near the Melbourne CBD daily. Comming southbound from the Elizabeth st roundabout to the Vic market there is one section that is as rough as guts. The nature strip kerbing was replaced a while ago and other parts of the road were resurfaced but this part of the road remains a goat track.
The solution? Place a sign on the nature strip that says "rough surface". Well, DUH!!!! I wonder if the responsible gov't (state or municipal) department hired a consultant to come up with that? Probably cost nearly as much as getting the road actually fixed!!

There some nice potholes Pete : I wonder why there is such a big hole underneath the road surface? Foundations not compacted properly maybe.

once you get out in the sticks (like I have found out near Kurrajong) ... there's no suh thing as road maintenance ... it's smoother driving on the graded dirt shoulder.
