looking at getting an upgraded tow bar fitted to the BA,.....currently has a 1200 KG tow bar fitted
Ford genuine tow bar is rated at 2300 KG but come standard with a 1600 Kg tongue upgrade to 2300 KG includes a set of load levellers or stabilisers which i don't want Ford want $760 for the tow bar fitted but want another $700 for the "tow pack" has anybody used the "auto pro" or repco type tongue or should that be insert it has a capacity of 2250 Kg's and is adjustable......best part is they sell for around $150 anyone know anything about them!.......they would have to be safe at least or they wouldn't be allowed to be sold surely

The rating is most likely based on a sum of parts fitted, just because the tongue is rated to that level, does not mean the car is legal to tow that amount without the rest of the gear.
Autobarn etc sell many many things to fit to our cars that are not legal.

I don't think I will be towing to that amount but I will possibly be over the 1600Kg.....certainly over the 1200KG that I currently have
do you know if the receiver is the same size.....are they based on the Hayman reese size!

don't know the answer to the size questions but would assume they would be similar, but I have been wrong in the past.
Please make sure your towing set up is legal for the weight you are towing, if there are any issues while towing and possibly exceeding any set weight limits, there may be insurance issues etc, although many do it illegally with no worries

all will be done by the Ford dealership and rated accordingly!.....even get a little sticker on my door jam apparently!
just as an after thought the tongues that i was looking at were all ADR approved to the rated capacities!
