This is already in Victoria through Vicroads, if done on the websites it is free.
This saved my GF from buying a car last year that was written off in NSW in 1999. The car was registered in Victoria but was still in the data bas as being written off. |

It will disclose whether or not the vehicle is encumbered or stolen If the portal to NEVDIS (this is where the relevant written off data is held - all insurance companies must notify of statutory or repairable write offs) is open , it will also disclose whether or not the vehicle has been written off (ie the old statutory or repairable write-off). If the NEVDIS system is down the PPSR will simply return the encumbrance status of the VIN in question. The PPSR works predominantly on VIN alone - no more checking by rego, engine number and number plate. The VIN will suffice. I worked on this PPSR project for 15 months. The Govt had delayed the start date of the PPSR from May 31...to october 31....to January 31.....It is a shambles to say the least. glad i left the project to be honest |

Took a massive paycut as a less stressful workplace is more beneficial to me than $$$$. Was a contractor for nearly 11 years. Time to treat myself. |
