happens a few times here and there around our place, my old mans EA and my EA are left on the street while everyone elses car sits in the driveway. we've come out a few times realising the filler doors open and filler cap on the ground nearby. Lucky there both on LPG and we keep stuff all petrol in the tank but still I'd love to catch these guys in the act

My Old mans f100 has had a few tanks drained and I got in my xd sedan today to move it inside and thought the gauges weren't working and realised nearly a full tank had been drained. My au ute had also been milked of about half a tank then I got a lockable fuel cap and it hasn't happened since.... Nothing more annoying than scum stealing your petrol and vandalising your cars drives me crazy!

I'd like them to try it on my Focus.
Get a nice mouth full of diesel and they'd be tasting it for the next year. |

Perhaps the thread title should be changed to "Fuel stealing still going on"? seeing as it was started in 2008 !!

Still going on indeed, however on the FG they'd have a damn hard time figuring out how to open it.
Picture this: Me and 4 mates, first cruise in brand new car... sitting at the servo for very odd 10 minutes or so while we tear apart the car trying to find the fuel release. Finally consult the manual just as my friend pushes the cap in and *click* "it's open!" and joyous cheers erupt throughout the servo. The only issue I have is that when it's locked you can still open it enough to fit something in between and pry the cap off, which could then lead to them damaging the car and paintwork badly. |

In one of the rougher 'burbs down here, they didn't bother with siphoning, they'd just screwdriver a hole in the tank and drain it that way.

Good luck stealing from wifes EGas ute ..
Dad had a '57 Chev during the fuel shortages of the early 80s (also owned a fuel station which helped). Couple of times had idiots try and steal fuel from it while parked in the driveway at home .. but they could never work out where the fuelcap was (it's behind the vertical chrome strip on the LH(?) fin) |

Back in 87 in Queanbeyan I lost two full tanks on the XC in two nights, 160 odd liters.
They did leave me enough to to the servo but it still annoyed me. |
