Hi guys,
Got a very good deal on a hail repaired FG XR6 MK2 EcoLPi. Have put $1000 down and waiting for finance to be approved and will be picking it up. Anything I should be checking on when I go to pick it up? They told me the hail repaired have no draw backs in terms of warranty or getting the car insured as it was repaired fully before being registered and it won't show up on any details (they basically said I do not need to tell anyone, but they just needed to tell me). Thanks! |

I'd have called Ford's warranty area, and your insurance company direct to confirm that.
I wouldn't solely go on their word.

I heard insurance may be an issue. As SCUD said, double check with your insurance.
Otherwise if it goes well, Congrats!

from what ive heard if it wasnt that badly damaged they dont even have to tell people...its just what ford prefer to make the dealers do...which is good.
And if you do a bit of research the dent repair tech now is pretty damn good. Id say a perectly repaired FG MK2 XR6 ecolpi falcon would have to be the BEST and smartest buy both ECONOMICALLY and performance wise in australia.........WELL DONE |

Seems I need to check out on the insurance issue then. They told me no one would ever know as it does not come up anywhere - what would happen if I just told the insurance company nothing about it? Not like you can see it anywhere, and in cases there may have only been several small dings?
Otherwise, I got it for (what I think) is a very good price. $32.5K on the road. Has around 250 KM's on it but no biggie for me at that price point, since it includes LPi. |

The insurer will ask you if theres any unrepaired damaged to which you say no...
Theres no issue insuring them, and theres definately no issue with warranty. What colour did you go with?

Hi Dash,
Well that's what the dealers told me. One of them told me the paint warranty is void, and all others said that is NOT true and full warranty remains intact. However, all of them said no problems with insuring the vehicle. I looked at a repaired one and could not spot the difference (obviously) - so I do not see how it even needs to be mentioned to the insurance company. That being said, I will look into it a little more just to be sure. I went with 'edge'. I wanted sillhouette/black but could not get my hands on a hail repaired one, apparently none left in the country according to the dealer I spoke with. I had to settle for edge, but I don't mind the colour - just preferred the black. |

Thanks! Definitely am happy The test drive was pure joy, when compared to my BA XT e-gas. Heaps of grunt on the XR6 Lpi, especially noticed during start/stop movements (of course, comparing to my BA XT again).
Can't wait to get it sitting in the drive way! |

all your warranties are there body and mechanical.
insurance will only insure you on market value and will not do a new for old replacement in the first 2 years of the vehicles life if it was a hail damaged vehicle. i think this is if you tell the insurance company it was a hail affected vehicle. and you will be required to sign a disclaimer at the dealership stating that you acknowlege that the vehicle you bought was a hail damaged and repaired vehicle with a discount of $xxxx. all in all they are excellent value for money cars. |

Yift, thank you for getting back to me regarding the G6E. Unfortunately it would out of the price range I was looking at, and then had a dealer call me up about the XR6 with a good price.
I probably won't tell the insurance company anything, but will discuss with the old man first on how this will be handled. I don't believe I should be penalized for what appears to be a brand new car that supposedly only had several dings on it. The disclaimer has already been signed though, cheers for the post! |

Bloody hell that's a good price. That'd put in competition with a top of the line Hyundai i30 and Mazda 3 diesels for me. Does XR6 come with leather/premium sound?

So you need to take what is given. There are still some XR6 LPi's floating around so you can try and grab them. Not too much left in terms of colours to take, though. Also, it was the last day of the month and I think the dealership I went with needed the sale so it was a bit easier for me to have it at the lower price. Your results may vary, but give it a try - I loved the test ride, and having it as a daily will be heaps of fun. |
