Have you ever seen a pizza place that advertises "We'll honour ANYONE'S voucher"? Why can't the independents do this?

Their margins might be tight. 4c a litre may not seem like much but multiply that by 1,000s or 10,000s and well... it adds up.

How many areas had independents as competition only to be driving out of the market by the big 2. Once that happens, they can and did raise their margins.

With the shopping I do I save more by not shopping at Coles or Woolies than I would with the shopper dockets.

I laugh when I see people use a discount voucher and then pay $5-6 for a 2 litre bottle of Coke they could buy for what, $3 in a supermarket.

There goes your petrol discount fool.

I love the anti Coles and woolies campaigns. If you don't like em then don't shop there. No-one cares why.

Completely agree. This way it will simply show the 2 big supermarkets that Own Shell and Caltex are not raising prices to compensate the fuel discounts.

A petrol station at The Entrance does this.

It's funny that poeple seem to blame the supermarkets for fuel price rises...

Not taking into account greedy Saudi's, War, Supply and demand etc etc.

I'm not blaming supermarkets for all fuel price rises. But when you kill off all competition, you have a captive market.

The ACCC/and the Govenment have alot to answer for!!!! :(

They were told about the european mistakes involving Supermarket's and petrol stations and they didn't listen.
All independants in europe were just about wiped out and we can see the strangling of our independents here.
Problem with it now is, they'll remove all petrol discounts but the higher food and fuel prices will remain, so it's still a lose/lose for us.

I shop at Woolworths as it's the closest to me and prices are comparable to IGA, Richies and Coles.
The closest servo is Woolworths, prices are on par to the local BP.
So it would make sence to buy my fuel from Woolies with their docket and with a magazine, the saving is justified. Especially over the long run.

If I wanted to go another local servo that sells the fuel for the same price as discounted Woolies, I'd have to get E10 from 7/11 which my car burns quicker than ULP.

The local independent servo takes any vouchers.
Since I already shop at Coles I might as well use the docket I get.

Back when I was regularly getting 8c off a litre, I was making a decent saving over time.

So why not use them if they are there.
