Trying to determine how well the ford I6 has moved forward. From ef to el and then au to ba its been getting quicker and quicker. Now at fg with its 195kw and 6 speed auto, a very handy bit of machinery.
In a straight line sprint does the fg xr6 n/a with its 6 spd auto have enough to step away from a holden vx ss auto. This would be a formiddable opponent for the xr6. I actually did see these two cars going at it with what i saw looked like the fg to slip ahead. an isolated event or would it have the vx ss measure? |

OK was the driver of the V8 in whimp mode upstairs, dont get me wrong, have had an FG XR6 until just recently, & even the standard I6 goes like stink, but wouldnt you compare apples to apples, bring on the GT/GS?

My old man had a VT SS, with the LS1 and six speed, that was around 6 seconds to 100, so the FG would definitely give it a run for it's money.

Vx ss' are pigs. They can sound great and the styling isn't too shabby, but if the xr6 lost against it I would be concerned. I use to own a VRX magna and that could out run a vt/Vx but the xr6 would pull away with ease at top end

Depends on the driver and the condition of the ss, the xr6 should have the edge especially down low where the LS1 is pretty poor, the xr6 is great up to 100

Hard to say. My ex cop VT LS1 hammered for a stocker, and the n/a FG XR6 hammers too, but it's also a heavier car. I doubt the XR6 could do it, but it would give the oil burner a sure fright.

Why does it matter? The FG owner is driving a new car not worrying about what part he/she has to pay for next.
Cant compare these cars seriously.

i`ve driven my mates Zf equipped bf 2 NA 6 potter, no doubt about it they are rapid, fg is probably a tad quicker, i always thought my AU vct xr6 was a decent goer, i still do , but the later falcon 6`s have a real turn of speed that leaves mine for dead even without the turbo, the 6 speed v6 commys are quick too.

I had a VY with the LS1 and it was a pig off the line (stock).
Wouldn't be surprised if it the XR6 gave it a damn good run for it's money off the mark. Once on the 'never ending quarter mile' however the LS1 would start to stretch it's legs and then game over. |
