When you bought yours, assuming it was new, did you pay RRP?
Or did you screw them for every cent possible?

If there were two identical cars, one 2011 plate the other 2012 plate which one would you take?

How much discount would you want to take the 2011, in addition to whatever other discount you are trying to screw them for?

Life is tough out there and they have these cars that they need to sell.

Honestly who really cares about resale value, I'm probably going to get rid of the Focus for another car when I'm off my Ps in 2014.

Guess how much my resale value is going to be?

$0

Because I'm just going to give it to my old man.

When you buy a new car, you lose money, its not an investment.

you have to admit, that is a very good deal, depending on what they call 'low km' etc.

this sort of thing always happens to any make when a new different shape model is released. up until FG2, a 2008 model was still 'current shape'. now it is yesterdays news.

agree with others on resale also. it doesn't even enter into the calculations when i'm looking for a car.

These cars are on the Byrne Ford used cars section of their website,
http://www.byrne.com.au/cars-view.ht...falcon-xr6-fg-
The link is for one of the cheaper XR6s with approx. 40 000K on the clock, others with different colors and different Ks are dearer.
I'd be a bit suss about the history of these vehicles, if I was in the market!
Surely a few dollars more you could get a simular XR6 with ALOT less ks and history of private ownership.

Bit misleading and incorrect when they say "Current model" in the ad. Should have said "Current shape". Unless it is a Mk 2 and the photo is incorrect.

Resale is only an issue if you get rid of the car. I have three of the four cars I've owned in my life (and I'm pushing 50). The only reason I don't have the fourth is that it was stolen and never recovered.

If you buy a car with resale value foremost in mind, you will never be satisfied.

to me, neither are correct. it isn't really current model although it is still a FG so technically it could be considered the first series of the current model.

it isn't current shape, which is probably why they haven't said that.

FG1 and FG2 are different models to me. But agreed, the bumpers arent current shape if its FG1, but dont they normally ignore the different bumpers when saying 'current shape' in an ad when referring to the basic shape of the car?

i agree but i can see how they could argue it is still current model. personally i think car ads from many dealers take a lot of liberties.

90% of incorrect ads on carsales are from dealers. you'd think it would be the other way around.

To the buying public is an FG Falcon.
The current Falcon available brand new is an FG, so it IS the current model for 98% of the population.

When I got my 2003 BA XT in 2004 I picked it up for $21000. The car was 1 year old. I think it is around the price you would pay. The car had less than 30000k on the clock.

Why is everyone so concerned about resale value? I don't understand why you would be buying it in the first place if your thinking about selling it..

These sales have been going on for the last few years. Last year they were selling 2010 models for a similar price.

But even though it says low kilometers, they are high for the car's age.

That is why they are so cheap... Dealers are buying them at auctions for 15 - 17 kay!!!
