While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

Was it this guy? Julian Neuendorf

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-11-0...54?section=qld

Police will resume a search at Logan Reserve south of Brisbane this morning for a weapon used in a man's murder.

Julian Neuendorf, 38, was shot and killed on Thursday night and his body was found in the Logan River beside a boat ramp on Friday morning.

Police are also reviewing security camera footage and a car believed to be Mr Neuendorf's vehicle has been taken away for testing.

Regional crime coordinator David Hutchinson says police divers and the State Emergency Service (SES) will return to Henderson Park today to look for clues.

"Why was he in the Logan area on that night - he is from Mitchelton - why was he in the Logan area?" he said.

"We are appealing to any member of the public who saw anything there that night that looks suspicious any member of the public who knows Mr Neuendorf and his movements over the last few days."

He says Mr Neuendorf had an extensive criminal history and police want to hear from anyone with information about the motive for his murder.

"The victim is known to police," he said.

"He has had an involvement with police over a number years and he does have a few questionable associates, so that is obviously one line of inquiry we are following."

A man has been murdered. Whether or not he was a good or bad person is unimportant.

Any more lynch gang posts will attract a warning.

My nephew, a copper, always says that newspapers can't print all they know for legal reasons, but if you "read between the lines" you can get a pretty good understanding of what might have happened. The magic term "Known to police" thrown in at the end of a story is a dead give away to read a little deeper.
They showed the dead guys black GT being loaded on a truck, and I was surprised that you were allowed to plainly see the personalised licence plate clear as day with no blurring out like they usually do. That tends to point to the Plod having a pretty good idea already what has happened and whoever did it will soon have the law breathing down their necks.

Looks like the old days never went away...I remember going to car shows and seeing simply stunning cars...Holdens, Fords, whatever...which had obviously had oodles of cash spent on them using the best parts. The guy would be someone you vaguely had heard of, and who you knew damn well didn't work, or only worked in some lowly-paid job, and you'd ask "What the hell does he do for work? He must get paid a lot", and the laughing answer from people who knew would be something like "Mate, he doesn't work...he just does a bit of gardening on the side...". That, and comments about "built with imported parts", were common once.

No, it never went away, the only difference now is that the DPP can take these sorts of cars under proceeds of crime legislation. Some of the custom harleys that turn up at Police clearing auctions are quite extraordinary.

I agree, also the fact he had a police mugshot is also a dead givaway.

Why this thread is in the pub is a long stretch because of a distant relationship with a Ford ....... apart from that really not a topic for here anyways and has long gone from original topic which was just a link to a newspaper article
