actually the ute, panel van and one tonner were all full chassis, no 3/4 chassis in sight.
Sedans were a front chassis only from near B pillar forward.

As devilcv8 has said, they were a full chassis. I’ve stripped a few in the day and it was easy to unbolt the body and with 3 mates lift it off the chassis. Most of the V8 Utes came with a 3.36 diff ratio.

I brought a HX in 1977 new and ordered it with the L34 308 engine option and it came from the factory with a M21 4 speed gearbox and the large 10 bolt Salisbury diff with the standard 3.36 Ute/Commercial diff ratio. The 3.08 was mainly for the sedans and in particular the GTS and performance models.

The rings either side of the diff housing are for the V8 sedans, yours is missing the rubber inserts which were left in them at the factory even in the Ute applications. If you are going to do up the Ute I’d source a pair as it is a much better look.

Oops! Yes you are right,my bad,just had a look thru some of my old manuals
Next time I'll re- check them first. Yes it was easy to swap bodies especially with one tonners.
