I have an AU series 2 ute. It only has speakers in the doors.
I want to know if there is any good spots i can stick some 6x9's that will be big enough to house them? Also, i'm wondering if the standard CD player will have rear speaker jack already on it, as i dont really want to replace the unit? 1 last thing, is there a simple way of pulling the CD player out to work on it? Any help would be appreciated. |

In the XLS models there are 5"x7"s mounted in the rear corners behind grilles .... fitting 6x9s might be difficult unless you custom fabricate something to accomodate them.
Not sure if there are grilles already mounted in the XL models or not ... or if it is just carpet though. I just replaced my 5x7s with Pioneer ones ... mainly because I wanted a "little bit" of rear fill after putting subs behind the seats and 6" splits in the front.

Why do you need to put coaxials behind you? Grab a 4ch amp, some good 6 1/2inch splits (or 5x7's) and a subwoofer to go behind the seat. This combo will provide great results.

or you could do what I did and custom build like a cabin tidy unit behind the seats and mount them into that, so now I have storage space, my normal 4 speakers and some amped 7 by 10 kennies behind the seats

put the 6x9's in speaker boxes and bolt them onto the parcel shelf.
make sure you bolt the boxes in and then install speakers so they are burgular proof. i have alpine 5x7 in the doors with tweeters in the door frames, an alpine 4 channel amp under passenger seat and kenwood 6x9 in boxes bolted to the parcel shelf...its a mighty fine system
