Same here. The BA's around town are horrendous on lpg! Highest I managed was 18.3L/100km doing the 6km trip to station and back.

Just filled up and averaged 16.5/100km.

my au v8 gets 15/100 kms around town and down to 8/100 on long drives

It really depends on how you drive and your location.

I just bought a 6 litre caprice pre ASM and its using the same amount of fuel as my BA XR6 around town
On the highway I'm getting mid 8's
At 100kmh the engine is reving at 1500 RPM
The thing idles at 700 RPM so its not exactly working hard

Have an average of 14.7 on my GS, trip out to QR saw as low as 8.5

shame there's always an up to a hill

I was just talking to a work mate today .. He's just rebuilt his 289 Mustang motor. Says hell buy the last of the HSV Commodores . Was wearied about fuel economy ? We came to the conclusion with modern transmissions and good driving, the v8 is not all that bad.. Must say the same with my GT .. long trips its very economical ! I don't care if it uses an extra $5 to fill it up !!

Hi my XR8 actual usage ( not trip) is 19.98 liters/100 km,14.19 miles /gallon,340 kms/tank = 100% around town driving and 14.06 liters/100km,20.17 miles/gallon,483kms/tank for 90% on the highway in the country driving.

my sprint has given me the best highway economy of anything i've owned..... best run averaged 9.7/100km at an average speed of 140....

See my post on NL V8 Fuel Economy on Post Classic Falcons. This is real. Today I logged (trip computer) for 95 kms a highway average (with Climate Control on) of 8.9 l / 100/km. This is, in the old scale , 31.7 MPG. It was only later corrupted by the regional stops that affected the average. If you drive sensibly and 'husband' the vehicle (with these remarkable motors) you can achieve outstanding results. I did dot exceed 110 kmph.

Our Ranchwagon (variety bash car) gets an amazing 25-27 litres per 100 Klm.

Only does about 6000 k per year, glad it's not a daily driver. Oh, and that consumption is country klm - not City!

Wouldn't have it any other way, the more fuel it is using, the bigger our smiles are!

Our 2 V8s have very different, but somewhat similar, sort of, fuel usage.

The BA G8 does around town/highway mix of 14.5 to 15.5 1/100km at average of 45 to 50 km/h. On the highway, it will get around 9l/100km at a steady 110.km/h. Towing our 16 foot boat to Jindabyne, it got 18l/100, travelling at 100 and overtaking all the slow cars on the highway.

The Explorer has achieved a best of 12.2l/100 on the highway, but typically is around 14 to 16, and gets 20l/100km on the same sort of travelling the G8 gets around town. Towing our 16 foot boat to Jindabyne, it got a best of 23l/100, travelling at 100 and doing the same overtaking of all the slow cars on the highway as the G8, and a worst of 30l/100km bringing the boat up the Clyde from Tuross to Canberra. Turning the A/C off saves 1 to 2 l/100km (No joke).

Still, even though fuel is now our highest expense behind mortgage and food, we wouldn't have it any other way really.....

I fillied up in my old G8 to full (BP 98) from Taralgon in LaTrobe Valley, Vic and drove without filling up again, all the way to Millicent in SA, not bad for a 5.4L 3V V8

I got 8.1l/100 driving from sydney to sussex inlet like an 82yo in my SC5.0 FG GT. I even took a photo as I couldn't believe it. But drive around town with a heavy foot and its 19l/100 easy lol.
