I'm sorry...I stopped reading once I got to the fact that said "The national road toll fell to its lowest level in 89 years in 2013 but more than 200,000 people are expected to be injured on Australian roads between now and 2020".
Lowest toll in 89 fricking years!! How many cars would have been on the road in 1924?? Not bloody many, and the top speed would have been way less than 50mph at the very most...usually more like 35 to 40mph. How about a bit of congratulations to motorists? Not bloody likely... |

The last 89 years includes 2012 and 1924 and every year in between - impressive that it is lower than each of those years - especially the ones where there were less cars and lower speeds.

About time some focus moved to the injuries instead.
A HUGE part of the death toll reduction is car safety, and people surviving previously un-survivable crashes. I really hope this gains some traction. There is absolutely no reason the government could have to oppose speeding fine revenue being separated and funnelled back in to the road system/safety programs.... other than pure greed. |

In 1895, most cars looked like Benz Patent Motorwagens, so yeah someone in Ohio was way WAY ahead of their time.. To bad both those futuristic looking 20th century things were crashed! What a conspiracy...
