Do any dealers survive soley on Falcon and Territory sales? I think not. When the Everest, Mustang and whatever replaces the Falcon arrive I'd expect sales to increase, going on current sales/build numbers, The white collar brigade will have to tighten their belts like the rest of us.
As for Holden, well this is FORDFORUMS.

My local ford dealer has been carry greensfield mowers and polaris quads for some time now. They rarely have a Ford in their showroom (let alone a falcon)

its more of the white collar employees from the factories will be affected by this, not dealerships - but again, we are coming to the age where people wants more money for less work, hence prices goes up from any products manufactured locally and businesses wants more higher selling margins ---> that killed the manufacturing industry.

It was OK. But there was little mention of Toyota or Ford who are also affected. And they mentioned how the new government didn't help the situation but neglected to mention that Ford announced its closure under the previous government.

Would of been nicer if they focused not just on Holden. We have two other manufactures here that use more Australian components and materials to build there cars then Holden. It did raise good points about the automotive industry here in saying that.

Dealerships are businesses and if one car maker isn't working, they switch to another.
What we're seeing now is a rapid increase in that changing of the guard and as Ford and Holden dealership numbers recede, the number of Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai and other franchises increase. See, it's not just the new car sales that dealerships want, it's all the continuing services and parts sales, because that's where the real money is in owning a dealership.... |
