"This could be the next Holden Barina.
Sold in the United Kingdom as the Vauxhall Corsa, this is the latest city car produced by General Motors’ European arm as opposed to the South Korean-sourced city cars sold in Australia. Holden previously sold the European-built Corsa locally as the Barina, but it has not offered European-sourced cars for several years. That will change in 2015 when the Opel Astra and Insignia return with Holden badges, joined by the new Cascada convertible. Holden spokeswoman Kate Lonsdale says the manufacturer may consider adding the new Corsa to that trio. “We’re looking at the portfolio to see what fits best for Australia,” she says. “We have nothing to announce regarding the Corsa, but we’re not ruling anything out. “Our focus is on the three European sourced vehicles coming in the first half of next year.” General Motors' President of International Operations, Stefan Jacoby, told Drive in May that more European-sourced cars would follow the first trio. The Opel/Vauxhall Corsa is likely to cost more than the current Barina model and could be pitched alongside as a more premium city car offering. Vauxhall says the Corsa has a “well packaged interior which belies its exterior dimensions”, anchored by a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Power comes from a choice of several engines including a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine available with 66kW or 85kW tunes that both produce 170Nm of torque. The car will also be available with 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.3-litre turbo diesel engines that offer additional grunt, along with entry-level naturally aspirated 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre motors. General Motors offers a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions in the Corsa, which is the best-selling car in Scotland and Northern Ireland. The previous-generation Corsa was sold in Australia through Opel dealerships until the manufacturer shut its doors in Australia." http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/h...709-zt1lk.html
