sorry for posting this thread here but it seems to be the only place i am allowed to post, i have just joined today!
i just brought a bf xr6 on monday. car prior to that was a vx holden! hope that doesn't offend anyone here, im not staunch either way, have owned both fords and holdens in my life and i appreciate both. my question is... what is this in the pic? its on the drivers side wheel mound under the hood. the plastic thing (to its right in pic) is the water resivour for the radiator. it looks like it could be retro fitted because the wiring is kinda messy, but there is only two wires, a black and a red one that are not connected to anything? its seems to have no purpose at present, i was hoping someone here may be able to tell me what it was/is/for. cheers revheads! Anti rust device. They aren't a standard item.

Could be a flux capacitor, just be careful when you get to 88mph.

With those rusty screws, it might be wired up backwards.

It's got to be a "Turboencabulator". A transmission device that would not only supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters.
The original Turboencabulator had a base plate of pre-famulated amulite surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots of the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdle spring on the "up" end of the grammeters. The turbo-encabulator has now reached a high level of development, and it’s being successfully used in the operation of novertrunnions. Moreover, whenever a forescent skor motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocation dingle arm, to reduce sinusoidal repleneration..

i think that is the "anti rust device" fitted by tint a car and sold through car dealerships.
no one could ever explain how these perticular devices are ment to work. there are a couple of different types of systems that have the detailed facts to prove how they work and have been around for years but these devices dont fit in with any of the trusted systems designs. the black and the red wires go to the battery and i bet there is another wire screwed to the body which is doing the same thing as the black wire to the battery. so realy it is just a box with a power wire and 2 earths and a led light. someone proberly paid $495 for it to be fitted when they bought the car. i have also removed several of them and found serious rust holes in the bodywork under the unit.

I'm guessing all these anti rust devices are just a box with a LED inside it lol.
Has someone got one that they wouldn't mind opening so we can see? |

I have one in the old AU Ute. It was a anti-rust device fitted at dealership as part of 'protection pack'. The light on it does not work so I assume the device is stuffed. Unsure if it actually worked, that said the old ute has only very minor rust

after that you could start on the arts. You won me over. dave351cid-may have used acid cure to retain the device so I guessing it should have been neutral cure or wood veneer.
