I doubt I would ever notice an Aurion pulling up alongside me at the lights.

I'm recommending this junk thread be closed, it's pure trolling.

Hulk you are a perfect example of how tolerant this forum can be.......but continue like this and I'm sure you will, once again, find the limit. .

They have a place...as long as people don't think they're in any way the pinnacle of power and performance. They've been long overshadowed by the power outputs of modern engines (all engines, not just modern V8's).
My favourite example is the magazine I have from 1982 with a comparison between the XE ESP Ghia with a 351 Clevo and the VH SS Group III Commodore. The poor old Clevo was only just chuffing out 140-odd kilowatts at the time. The worked five liter Holden was managing around the 160 I think. People complain that they "measured the power differently then, with all ancillaries fitted"...because when you drive your street car, you drive it without an alternator, water pump drive, exhausts, or air cleaner, right...? The power figures at that time were realistic, the way you would buy the vehicle, not unrealistic ideal figures from an engine dyno. I love old V8's...we have a worked 253 in a WB ute...but I don't in any way think it's "superior" to modern engines. It has it's place as an example of how things used to be done, of what was once "the way to do it", but it's certainly light years behind even the engine in grannies new Corolla... You're right...it's about a feeling when you're driving one of these old things. I loved driving our ute down to the new house along the highway a couple of weeks ago...loping along, the engine burbling nicely, the carby sucking noisily under acceleration, looking at that old GTS dash...but while it overtook other cars OK, I've certainly been in much quicker newer cars with much smaller engines... Trolling at its finest Hulk. Of course older V8's still have a place, look around this forum and absorb the passion for old school muscle.

Reading your threads, sounds like your friends are matched perfectly to your personality. You're going to be a lonely fellow if they start saying that all Falcon's/Commodores are, like sooooo old and boganish.
