I keep on hearing about an I6, what is it? And what's a VCT engine and what's the diffrent?

I6 is an inline 6 also refferd to as a straight 6. commonhoares have V6 becuase the cylinder arangement is in a V formation.
there are aslo box engines and rotary engines (but not made by ford!). the VCT is an I6 but it has Variable Camshaft Timing hence the name VCT engine!! the computer is able to adjust the camshaft timing automatically

VCT = Variable Cam timing- the cam actually moves inside the head when reving up.. (from what ive heard)
normal I6 (inline 6) is just a normal over head cam motor.. cam stays in one location.. VCT as a rule of thumb generally have a little more power aswell.. |

the cam mechanism wont move whilst revving as theres no load.
The mechanism is is on a spool which turns up to 10 degrees by utilising engine oil pressure and an actuator controlled by the ecu.
