Default Ford Fusion (Mondeo) 2.7 EcoBoost V6

What do you all think? Suitable global replacement for the Falcon XR6 or not? 242kW / 475 Nm, AWD.

I think it's in a bit of no man's land. It's got 100hp over the next engine in the line-up but it probably only needed to be around 300hp with how much torque the turbo can deliver. XR6T sat at 270kw for the past 8 years almost although Fusion assumably has a weight advantage as well as AWD but I think 240kW is still a bit short of where an ST level car needs to be.

I think this one will just be labeled 'Sport.' Could mean a higher output 'ST' later on?

Looks good, bring it.
Might as well pension off the Mondeo name and go with Fusion.

As a global replacement it will probably do alright, as long as its not priced out of this world , XR6 replacement ? maybe not.

Seems a bit weak in my opinion (on paper).
V6TT and only 240kw. Are they wanting a ST or just a mild sports version?
I feel they could have used the RS/Mustang 4 cylinder engine instead and called it a ST.
Not sure about the styling either, I am hoping it is the US version only.
It looks too, American.

2.3 turbo might yet slot in to fill that 100hp gap. I guess it all relies on how well it's received. If the Americans don't take to it, there's little chance the Europeans would take to an equivalent Mondeo.

It also required 4L to be at 270. This thing won't be slow.

"New for 2017 in the Fusion, the twin-turbo V-6 was first seen in the Ford Edge Sport. It makes a hefty 325 horsepower and 350 pounds-feet of torque, significantly more than the most powerful 3.5-liter V-6 engines in the Camry or Accord. The new Fusion Sport features standard all-wheel drive, a six-speed automatic transmission, larger brakes, an electronically adjustable sport suspension and 19-inch wheels." from :
https://www.cars.com/articles/2017-f...1420683089743/ If it comes here , hopefully around $50-$55k....

Its the almost the same size as a Falcon and just as good interior space and larger boot, with the weight and power of a BF Turbo. But it will have a fancy AWD system.

The question is will they bring it to Oz.

Well Focus ST weighs almost 1500kg so it's all relative

Has the current AWD platform been produced in right hand drive? I thought it was only the American market that got the AWD and hybrid models?

EDIT*
Answered my own question - the UK got them late last year

When you consider how many people have no problem spending $60,000 + on a Wildtrac, I think there is a untapped market for Ford for a higher trim level with some added performance and luxury features.

I would have thought the 5.0 V8 would be of more interest to the Aussie ute buyer. Especially after next year.

V6 turbo is most likely for US market only - we will get a turbo 4 Mondeo.
