Default Mig Welders

Hi Guys, can gasless mig welders be converted over to run gas? I've got a lead on a gasless, but want the flexibility of a gas mig and being able to purge, and change gas types.
Anyone in Qld got a mig (gas mig) they wanna sell?

Mate if it is gasless, in a word no, different internals, to do with gas flow. If it was a gas mig you can use gasless wire with it, the flux is inside the wire for gasless welding. Your contact tip diameter would have to match & the gas supply port is not affected, hope this helps.

You would need to change the wire assembly, need the different lead and torch, plus the fittings and the regs, would cost you more to convert than to just buy an existing one.

ive got a gas mig forsale if you are interested at all, what are you looking to do with it?

gasless MIG's can be used with gas...
if they were built to do so... i.e dual functionality!

If it was built to be gasless only then you are stuck i would imagine

Gamma i bought a CIGWELD Transmig 130 twin in 1993 which can be used either was gas or gasless its 240 volt's and it is a B.LO.O.D.Y ripper. I have used it to do all my headers right up to 1/4 plate steel for my friends BBQ and for $700 bucks it has been one of the best things in my work shop.

1/4" plate steel is more than man enough for what I want. I was figuring on welding 1/8" plate tops, but I spose the extra capacity is always nice...
I'll send you a PM madhatter.

Ben.
