Not sure that's a question anyone knows the answer to. Possible exception of FoMoCo.
You can be certain of a large repair bill though, should you require it. That may be offset by high depreciation in your favour as a buyer. My Guess is transmission failures are not common, but the perception is poor. |

yeah looks like about 2.5k-3k bill reading other threads here in the forums interested in a diesel wagon 2012 or 2013, have taken a few for a test drive and put in some offers (melbourne based) been checking the "information" for "messgaes" on the dash, yes it seems something to budget for when buying one |

My guess is that at some point the issue with the speed sensor was rectified. So a newer MC may be less likely to have the problem.
A mechanical warranty would be a sensible precaution. Sent from somewhere using Tapatalk

thanks for the replies,
yes I have read that review, the TDCI seem to be a great buy (depreciation) and repairs in the range of 2-3k is not astronomical but its also the process of time off the road and having/finding someone to complete the wok |

Mine is a 12/12 model that the sensor failed in at 134,000km. The transmission place assured me the new part is redesigned and shouldn't fail again but time will tell. It's now 12 months and 30,000 + km later and no more issues.
Would I buy another one? In a heartbeat. For the price they are used, I don't think you can get a better car. Comfortable, economical, powerful.

Mondaveo, how do you make the links in your text? The German Mondeo Mk4 forum has a polling (not appalling) system it seems. Of 99 polled 36, I think it was, had the DCT and 32 were satisfied. Means not much though since problems go to forums? I just googled Mondeo Mk4.de Ï Like the 'Landing Gear' translation. |

Sorry, I missed your question earlier. It's done with BBcode 'URL' tags which are documented here. If you use the standard web-based post editor look for the 'blue globe' button (6th on quick reply and 11th on the second line in 'full' mode) which makes it easy to insert the markup into your post.
The lack of complaints out of Europe is really puzzling to me. I had assumed the bigger population and greater popularity of the car (compared to the relative obscurity here) would ensure that endemic issues would get amply reported online. The lack of such when I searched convinced me that failures must be rare and it couldn't happen to me. 12 months later and of course, it had and I'd counted 6 other people reporting it in theirs on these forums besides. Now, anytime I see another MC on the road I wonder if they've gone through it. So, I dunno? An Aussie-only thing, or one or more of my initial assumptions were incorrect? |

I agree, it doesn't seem to be a big problem in Europe or NZ. Higher ambient temps in Oz maybe?
