Someone told me to leave bottles of water lying around as they don't like their reflection but that turned out to be a load of crap. I ended up having to put a sheet over my bonnet everynight for 8 months till we moved to another house(not because of the cat!).

Dogs and cats hate the smell of Citris. So if you spary you car with it and the area around it, it should keep them away.

place rows of sticky tape sticky side up on your bonnet (just hold it down at the ends with spit or a corner of sticky tape)

Find a good vantage point with your video camera and wait.

any form of paracetemol (spelling) works, mix a panadol in with milk and place on the bonnett. The cat will drink the milk and the cat will die a painless death. Cat gone and your problem solved!!

I have an air rifle, a .22 and a .308 and 2 big dogs any of which would have fixed the problem, but i think the trap is the only way to get rid of it without ending up on a Current Affair, plus if it is someones family pet, they have a chance to have it returned keep it on their own property.

another comment deemed as cruelty for the sake of cruelty to cats and I'll show you how cruel a mod can get to members.

If you know the owner talk to them first; this way you have tried to solve the problem with their consultation, and in a sense let them know of your frustration with the damage it is doing to your car. If they show little to no regard or argue that the cat has got nothing to do without going out then go the cat trap.

You can get them from your council, kennards or from the maker for around $100.00 new. Once you catch it take it to the council and they will inform the owner and issue them with a fine. If this still doesn't stop the cat then catch it again and go to the council, then send the council a repair bill for your duco. They will reject it and come down more forcefully than before on the owner.

If it happens a third time then council will legally euthenase the cat and your problem is solved, all the while you are within the law.

Whilst it is funny to joke about it I would seriously reconsider any notion of hurting the cat or torturing it, as you can get a criminal record as well as even do time for it. If the neighbours or someone even sees you throwing a rock at it you can be arrested and charged for animal cruelty. Traps are not deemed as cruel to the animal as they are a legitimate tool used in monitoring of animals as well as removing feral animals.

That is the correct answer.. and there is no need for this thread to go further.

I've also deleted a few posts about shooting the cat... it just ain't on. There are plenty of legal ways to get rid of it.
